In late 2008, Symyx, a scientific information management company, needed to reposition the company and highlight two newly formed divisions for Software and High Productivity Research (HPR). Operating in a highly competitive market against well-branded competitors, Symyx tasked Racepoint with securing leadership positioning beyond its core chemical industry verticals.
Racepoint's goal was to establish a baseline of high quality coverage for Software and HPR across the most influential industry media, expanding Symyx mindshare and building a foundation for future business media coverage. Leveraging the experience and industry insight of Symyx divisional presidents, Racepoint crafted a compelling thought leadership program around scientific informatics to introduce and expand Symyx's influence within the R&D and life sciences community.
To do this, Racepoint leveraged meetings with key media contacts at major industry conferences including AAPS and BIO IC. The team secured several pieces of influential coverage, as well as trend-focused contributed content, in R&D and pharmaceutical trade publications such as Bio-IT World, Drug Discovery & Development, Specialty Pharma and Pharmaceutical Manufacturing. In addition, Racepoint secured corporate profile pieces in Genetic Engineering News and Drug Discovery World.
By building momentum for the Software and HPR divisions through continued proactive outreach, Racepoint has been able to significantly raise Symyx's profile and brand awareness within the life sciences industry. As a result, the company for the first time was able to surpass its largest competitor in terms of total number of articles in a one month period.
